“Medfield Diagnostics AB develops, markets and sells diagnostic instrumentation based on microwave technology”

History

Medfield Diagnostics AB was founded in 2005 by Mikael Persson and Andreas Fhager to further develop and commercialise the microwave tomography technology, a product of years of research at Chalmers University, Biomedical Electromagnetics, Signal & Systems, Electrical Engineering.
  
Focus was shifted to business development during 2006. Patent protection strategy was set and patents of the major inventions filed. Medfield Diagnostics moved in to the business incubator facilities at Sahlgrenska Science Park and secure seed funding.
 
In 2007 the first investment round with Innovationsbron Väst Start-up AB as a new finance partner was secured. During the summer Patrik Dahlqvist was recruited as CEO and Stefan Jacobsson as Chairman of the board.

Patrik Dahlqvist, M.Sc, CEO
Previously at Q-Sense AB where he from 1999 developed the company from patent to strong sales expansion holding positions as Application Developer, founder and CEO of the North American subsidiary and Global Sales Director.

Stefan Jacobsson, Chairman of the Board
Brings in a business background with strong financial experience as among others CFO at Vitrolife and founder of Biolin AB.

Mikael Persson, Ph.D, Professor Chalmers University
Founder and majority shareholder. Responsible for the group Biomedical Electromagnetics at Chalmers University. Serves as the company’s technical advisor and manages the academic network development.

Andreas Fhager, Ph.D
His Doctoral thesis serves as the main foundation of Medfield Diagnostics’ technology. He is in charge of technical development with focus on algorithms.

Has a background as CEO at Medeikonos AB and brings in massive experience of the procedures when taking a diagnostic instrument company through clinical trials.
